Excellent example of a Honda TLR 250 that I’m not riding so has got to make room in the garage. It’s road registered (currently SORN) and been ridden in the over 40 or clubman classes in Southern trials so no rock bashing damage.
About 3 years ago I had cam chain, cam chain runners, valves, rings and small end all replace, although they came out without any significant wear. It didn’t need a re-bore because the person who did the work said it was still in excellent condition. Since then it’s only run for about 8.3 hours, so the chain and sprocket are like new. I’ll include all the old parts as spares and another set of rings that I ordered because the spares were available.
Having owned several 4 strokes, I’ve changed the engine oil every 4 trials mainly using Shell Helix semi synthetic which I find is best for the clutch when it gets warm.
I’ve taken photos of it with the original tank, but will probably put on a single piece tank when it’s picked up, because I think it looks neater. You’ll get the original tank which is ok ridden condition.
I know some will say that you could get a 200 cheaper, but then you need to spend a lot of money to make the engine suitable for trials. This bike has had all the other things done that you’d need to do to make it much more rideable; steering angle, footrests, Beta aluminium shocks, DEP aluminium exhaust, Rental bars, etc.
Together with the engine it’s had some cosmetic improvements; single piece tank, Excel Takasago aluminium rims, repainted engine, powder coated frame and hubs. If you’re considering buying another bike look at the rims because the original rims rot away and split. I paid over £700 for the wheel to be coated, new rims and stainless spokes.
I’m going to include some of the spares and serviceable parts that I’ve taken off, and a copy of the Honda workshop manual with parts list.
