Very reluctant sale – over-budget house extension to pay for :-(
I just know I'll regret it, but here we go...
The whole bike (with the exception of the engine) was thoroughly refurbished a couple of years ago and has hardly been used since. Many £££ spent – if it needed it, it got it. Genuine parts were used wherever possible. If it has had 20 hours use since I’d be surprised.
Frame was stripped and powder coated white – the footrests have since been lowered and replaced with S3 ones.
Forks re-chromed, new bushings, oil, oil seals and ‘Magicals’ fork springs fitted. Fork lowers powder coated in Yamaha blue. Protected with heli-tape and fork covers since.
Hubs powder coated and new wheel bearings fitted. Wheels rebuilt (by Sid’s Wheels) with stainless steel spokes (including s/steel ‘Z’ spokes on the rear). The rear wheel is fitted with a Morad tubeless rim and Michelin X-Light tyre; the front wheel is fitted with a good second hand DID rim. Rim protectors have been fitted, but can be removed, obviously.
New ProMonty front pipe and WES silencer fitted.
Plastics are all genuine Yamaha and are in very good condition – that isn’t a tank cover, a new tank was fitted (it does have a small mark where my other bike fell on it and the bar-end scuffed the tank, aaargh!). The rear mudguard is the rarer (and nicer) type without tail lamp holes and the front mudguard was a NOS Yamaha item. The seat and mudguard decals are not genuine. I have a set of genuine (now unobtainable) Yamaha ones that are available by separate negotiation.
All the other stuff was gone through, new brake shoes, new 4-pot calliper and Nissin master cylinder on the front and ‘HEL’ brake hose, linkage bearings were all sorted, swing-arm bearings renewed, the chain slipper was renewed and the ‘shark fin’ sprocket saver.
The paint has crazed on the clutch cover where I dribbled petrol on it, so this would benefit from a repaint. The ‘usual’ lug is broken off where the front sprocket guard should go, there is a case saver fitted there now too.
The engine has the standard Yamaha rattle, but starts and runs well. It has the modified shortened inlet, but I have no idea what the details are beyond that! Being honest, the carburettor is worn and it doesn’t rev cleanly at the top end. I had planned to fit a modern flat slide carb, however there is a spare standard carb that I haven’t tried out that will come with the bike. I had also planned to rebuild the engine at some point and have most of the parts (except piston) and including a spare bottom end, with the chain guard lug intact! Again these parts can be bought separately if required.
Price is £2,500, no offers or timewasters please.
